Fabfilter Pro DS

Post by Schimanski » Mon Jan 28, 2013 8:28 am

ipad4,35GB FREE Memory!,iOS6.01,Auria 1.06 the only app running,definitely!NO audiobus.
FabfilterPro DS in the Masterstrip,no oversampling, lookahead or not doesn't make a difference.
After a few seconds Auria freezes,I have to fully shut down the ipad to quit auria.Full reset to make the ipad
work again.A great unusable ( not really cheap) plugin...

That's not at all normal. Do you have a project that demonstrates this every time? If so, please zip it and send it to me so I can get it to FabFilter for testing.

Thanks,

Sorry,I shouldn't post a message when I'm upset.Yes,it happens every time with this project.
No problems on a channelstrip though...I'll test it in 1 or 2 other projects and then mail you the zip.
Thank you for your assistance!

No problem, an example project would really help. By the way, you might want to check your Auria settings and make sure you're using 32 bit mode for the mixer. I forgot to ask about that.

I was using the 64 bit mixer - changed the setting to 32 bits and everything works fine!
Did not know about that,or did not read setup instructions close enough?
Thank you very much for your quick response - like always!!!

Yes, 64-bit mode for the mixer adds a huge penalty on the CPU. Use it only if you really need it. In most cases, it's very hard to notice a difference between 32 and 64 bit mixer modes.

Looks like I'm the only one having problems with the FabfilterPro DS.I use ProQ,ProC and ProL,all of them without any
problems!Even all three of them in the Masterstrip. But as soon as I use ProDS,after some seconds Auria freezes,I can't
quit Auria,I have to shut down the iPad,new start etc. This happens with every project.I thought switching from 64Bit to
32Bit solved the problem, but it did not.
iPad4,64GB,34GB Free memory. In Auria memory shows 530mb,max cpu around 12%.
ProDS is the only plugin running. No audiobus,no other apps for sure!No interface etc.
No oversampling or lookahead in ProDS.
Any ideas...?

Could very well be a bug in the DS plugin. I'll send fabfilter an email. Can you tell me if it does this with aux sends or a regular channel insert?

I too experienced this with the ProDS when it first arrived for Auria. Same freeze and couldnt quit Auria had to hard se-set the iPad. However I have been using the plugin since then and it seems to be working. It happened a few times but not anymore and I dont think I did anything different other than use it. I think it might be a certain preset but I m not sure. Cheers.

Ok, if anyone can get this to happen reliably, please let me know how you did it exactly.

Thanks,

I only used ProDS as regular channel insert.the issue occured in all 3 categories : normal chstrip, subgroup chstr and
master chstr.when the freezing happens, there is NO cpu burst or memory lack .

OK, can you tell me what control you have to press on DS in order for it to happen? I am trying it here, and I can't duplicate it.

Hello Rim,
there is nothing I do in special. Some times the crash occurs after a second after having pressed the play button.
Sometimes it happens after 30 seconds, just playback no recording ,no special preset.I cannot find out any rule.
But it happens in every project and these are all different in the number of tracks etc.And this is the ONLY plugin
I'm having problems with. And it sounds GREAT,if it works....

I've tried to replicate this and I can't. I even loaded all 4 plugin slots with ProC,ProG,ProL,ProDS and set the oversampling in ProDS to 4x and ran it to 42% cpu and let the tracks play for a few muinites and I simply could not shake it. Even Auria was as stavle as a rick. Something good is happening here. :D
