Is iGrand the best piano app?
Is iGrand the best piano app?
Hello, I am looking for a great piano sound. I have the free version of igrand and it sounds pretty good. It appears to work with auria but is there an app out there with a better sound that works with auria? Thanks for your help.

This is an excellent overview of the big names in ios pianos.

Thank you, they are all pretty good. I am not sure which one to get. I am thinking igrand is the one. Ravensport is really good too. It is a little bit on the high price end though.

I think iGrand is pretty good considering how small the app is. The only issue I have with it is that you can sometimes hear a flanging effect on the decay of the notes, which is presumably down to the fact that the samples are compressed.
Ravenscroft gets very good reviews, but I haven't bought it yet due to size and storage constraints.
There are some nice pianos in SampleTank, the Pro Pack has some good pianos, and the Alan Parsons Imperial Grand is really lovely if you like a softer and slightly darker sound.

The Ravenscroft 275 is my favourite at the moment. IGrand is my second favourite followed by Crudbytes Colossus and Korg Module Ivory Piano.
Re: Is iGrand the best piano app?
Thank you. I will look at the Alan Parsons piano and SampleTank. I am sure igrand has some issues as do all of the apps that seems to have the most variety to it. Ravenscroft sounds cool but the price is holding me back. I think I have enough space on my iPad.

Ravenscroft is your favorite? Does it open in auria pretty well? I like how it sounds. It is my second choice right now but if I can swing it it might be my first choice.

I think Igrand is pretty good, and after getting the expansions you have a LOT of piano's , but I find myself reaching for Korg Module for pianos, the Ivory expansion pack pianos to be more specific. I bought Korg Module specifically so I could buy the Ivory expansion pack because I used to use the desktop version in Logic and it sounded great , but it's a LOT pricier than IGrand. Besides module I might use Beathawk's piano expansion pack, since BeatHawk is an audio unit.

Thank you. I was looking at the Korg Module system. I like the idea of all the different piano options it has. The unit was the same cost as igrand I think. Is the ivory expansion pack a lot of money? If it sounds good I might add that to my list of cool things. The Ravenscroft piano is 35. I am not as concerned with money as I am the sound, I want the best sound.

I just got the KORG Module. I need to look at the ivory expansion pack. I like that you can add auto wah to every sound. I was thinking of getting new soul keys studio but I might not need to if these electric pianos and Clavinets sound good.

What other add one do you suggest. The Wurli add on looks and sounds good. I like the ivory pack too. There are a lot of them. Thank you for your help. I think Kirk has them on sale right now. They are not bad in price.

Ok here is a question. How do you get KORG Module to play a midi file in auria? It doesn’t pull up on the instruments but I have to load it on Fx button. I am doing something wrong if other people can use it. I can’t play the Korg in auria either. It plays as a stand alone but not in auria. I have made in error somewhere.

you have to make a midi track and an audio track. on the audio track chose Module as an inter app audio instrument, then on the midi track, open the fx and the midi control tab. In the instrument menu select off, then in the port menu select Module for the output.

Thank you. That should get it runnng. I got it running by setting up a midi track and changing the midi out to module. I had to mute the other midi tracks but it seemed to work. I am going to get the ivory upgrade tomorrow. I am also going to get the Ravenscroft 275 piano app tomorrow. I will eventually get the igrand app, I gave the free igrand app right now with three pianos. That should work.
