External hard drive for data
External hard drive for data
I just got a new iPad Pro and I am going to make the jump to auria pro on it. I need to transfer my songs that are in progress on my computer to it. I saw that auria accepts external hard drive information. What is the best drive to get? Can I use a flash drive or does it need to be a hard drive? I have flash drives, if they can work I can use the cck 3 to upload the data right? Is there a video on how to do this? I didn't know the iPad can accept hard drives or flash drives. This is new to me. Thank you for the help.

Re: External hard drive for data
You can only use iOS compatible flash drives. These are made evident because they have a male lightning port along with the usual USB port on the drive. Check out the Sandisk iXpand and Leef iBridge for two popular examples.
To use these drives, you have to download their corresponding free apps onto your iPad. You can then perform backups/transfers of your Auria projects (In Auria> Menu> Save Project> Save Project to Other App> Select your flash drive's app)
And you can restore projects from the drive back into Auria by using the flash drive's iPad app and selecting Open In..> Auria

Thank you. I will check them out and get one. I used drop box and it imported my project perfectly. I have an old system and I need to transfer to a new setup. I thought the iPad Pro and auria pro would be a good way to go. Is there any other ways to transfer songs over?

DropBox works well. You can also connect your iPad to a Mac or PC and use iTunes file sharing or another application like iFunBox (free from i-funbox.com) to drag and drop your projects for backup and restore. iFunBox is nice because it gives you full access to the Auria documents folder (iTunes does not allow this). In the Auria documents folder you have direct access to all of your projects, audio files, Gog Files (if you have Drumagog 5 for Auria) and Sample Instruments (if you have Auria Pro).
Generally it is good practice to backup important projects and audio files to multiple locations, just in case. If you have a lot of DropBox storage, it is good to keep a backup in the cloud. Physical drives can get lost, stolen or broken.

Thank you for that great tip. I don't have a lot of Dropbox storage. I am using what is free space. I will look into funbox. That is free and having cloud storage is good. I have the auria pro and drumagog. I have to save it somewhere. I ordered a sandisk flash drive to back stuff up. I am moving over from a desktop.

in IOS 11 Files app works good as well
Re: External hard drive for data
Is it called files? Or ifunbox? I tried ifunbox and I couldn't get it installed. It said it was not available on my computer. I couldn't get it on my iPad. I am glad to hear it is working in os 11. That is awesome.

iFunBox is a separate app that is different from the new Apple Files app that will be available in iOS11.
iFunBox needs to get installed on a Mac or PC for backup/restore purposes, you do not need to install the iOS app version of iFunBox.
Apple Files will be automatically installed on your iPad when iOS 11 is available in the Fall.
