v2.11 available

Post by Rim » Tue May 23, 2017 5:45 pm

Hi everyone,

Apple just approved v2.11. This is a quick bugfix release which addresses two main issues:

- In some cases, performing editing functions (for example moving/resizing regions, moving notes, etc) could cause Auria to crash.
- iOS 10.3.2 introduced some issues with the way Auria reports audio CPU usage. Apple patched some security problems in Core Audio in 10.3.2, and I suspect this might be related to what we're seeing. In the mean time, I've disabled the CPU warning message in this version.

I have to restore all purchases when there is an update. Is this normal?

Thank you.

Ok. How do I get the update? I've been dealing with a severe issue I noted two weeks ago on the Audio Interfaces discussion page. One person who'd been having similar issues seems to have had that particular problem cleared up since the update.

My iPad isn't recognizing my interface anymore (Behringer FCA1616+ADA8200).

I've backed up all my files, removed Auria, reinstalled Auria.

iPad Air 2 64GB
iOS 10.3.2
Auria version 2.10

Version 2.11 doesn't seem to be available to me yet. I tried going to the Auria page in the App Store, which says it has 2.11 for download, but twice now it only lets me have 2.10, NOT 2.11, and my interface isn't recognized still.

I ordered a Tascam US 16x08 which showed up today. I'd like to be able to return it without opening it if possible, but I've got an album to finish.

It's possible Apple's servers haven't propagated the updated to your area yet. I'd wait another day to make sure all Apple's servers are synced.

Regarding the interface, app developers have no control over how iOS supports audio interfaces. They either work, or they don't work on an iPad. So there's nothing Auria can do to make an interface compatible. Apple simply doesn't give us that kind of control as it's all handled by iOS itself. And often an iOS update changes the way they handle certain interfaces. Have you tried contacting Behringer about this?

I'll be reaching out to Behringer if the update doesn't work. Bear in mind, I'd been using these interfaces for about 15 months (last time was in December - working on mixes the last few months) and now the iPad won't recognize the hardware. It's recognized by my laptop, but not the iPad.

Also, I'm only getting the chance to test it once every few days, as all the recording gear is at the rehearsal space and I keep the iPad with me, so it's been a slow process of trying to figure out what the hecking heck is going on.

Are you using an official Apple CCK? Apple locked down on 3rd party ones in a recent iOS update.

Dancore--

Yes. Official CCK. I have a few cheapies, but in the testing for this I dug out the 'official' one because I'd read about that lockdown.

Also, did you update the firmware on the Behringer?

Actually, Rim, upgrading the Behringer firmware was the first thing I did. I am now patiently waiting for the 2.11 update to be available to me. I'm about to check if it will work with GarageBand, because if it doesn't I will focus on what Behringer suggests, because it's a unit problem at that point. Since I haven't made any edits to anything, everything's still backed up. I may try a factory restore and reinstall EVERYTHING. I'd rather not have to do that though...

Thanks for the suggestions.

2.11 won't fix this issue - there's nothing an app developer can do related to audio interfaces. It's all handled by iOS unfortunately. It's possible that the firmware update is what caused your interface to no longer be compatible with iPads.

Just to say thank you for the update, Rim: since 2.11, Auria has been absolutely stable, with no crashes at all. It seemed a small update, but the benefit was huge.

It took me a couple restore purchases to get all my plugins and Auria pro back. But...... I still can't get psp microwarmer back through a restore? Even if it says 19.99$, I won't be charged again when I click buy correct?

That's correct. Apple won't charge you for something you've already bought.

OK. Update for Rim, who patiently suggested different solutions for my problem (and anyone else reading along).

It came down to the CCK. I had been using aftermarket ones since the middle of last year, last recording in December. When we set up to record a month ago, the aftermarket CCKs would no longer work. My confusion came further when I tried my original 'official' CCK, which also was rejected by the iPad. Apparently that one is defective. All the rejections occurred within five minutes of connecting the interface.

I ordered a new official CCK and tried it tonight... THAT fixed my problem. I plugged it in, mapped the input tracks, and let it sit for a half hour, and everything seems to be working like it should.

WHEW.

however... v2.11 has STILL not propagated to my server yet.

But I'm back up and running, and that's what matters.

That to everyone for their suggestions.
