USB hub query

Post by Bobfossil1 » Wed May 17, 2017 5:53 am

I really ought to know the answer to this, but:

If I run multiple devices into a powered USB hub (say an audio interface, midi keyboard, control surface, and electronic drum kit) assuming I separate out the midi channels correctly, will they work simultaneously or will it be a disastrous waste of time, money and effort?!

Thanks!

They will all work fine. I use a 10 input usb powered hub and its full and everything works. One thing to note is that Auria has a limit of how many midi devices can be viewed in the midi page. The list shows the order in which the devices were turned on. This is because that window is not scrollable. I can see and control about 8-10 devices so if your under that you should not have a problem. Cheers.

Sorry - supplementary question - can you run more than one audio interface at the same time into auria this way? The drummer in my band has decided he wants about 30 million drum mics next time we record and I don't have enough inputs in my little interface on its own...

Unfortunately no. Only one audio interface can be plugged into iOS. You can connect another interface to an exsisting interface through ADAT which will give you 8 more channels but your audio interface would have to have ADAT connectivity. Other than that there is no other way to increase your channel count. Cheers and good luck.
