Spectrum analyzers

Anyone using any of those available, outside of the ones built in to fabfilter plugins? Not sure Amy out them work with audiobus or has, or au.

The metering app I use is Vecterscope. You can see it here on my studio tour video on YouTube.

Lovely studio Anthony, and I've never considered using an older iPad just for analysis. Great idea.

I ended up picking up MC Analyzer, which works with IAA and Audiobus. Lots more options that Fabfilter-Q2, seems like a nice fit. Now I just have to figure out how to use it properly.

The new studio looks great Anthony
I was wondering about the spectrum analyser on the iPad Air
I see that it's connected by a lightning connector , what type of adapter is it ? where does the signal come from?
and Is it possible to use the mic in on the iPad as an alternative?

Paul.

Hi there, The lightnig connector is the new usb3 by Apple. It lets you charge the iPad while using the usb. Very cool and available only from the Apple Store or an authorized Apple dealer. Cost about $50Canadian. I use a second audio interface an Audient iD22 to drive the Vectorcope App on the second iPad the Air1. The audio is normalled at my audio patchbay from the final output of the audio chain and inserted into the Audient iD22 's 2 balanced inserts.
I use this because I need very acuarate metering of my music so I am asured that what I'm hearing is what the meters are showing. I wouldnt use the iPad built in mic as that would not really be giving you an acurate reading of the audio. However you can use something very afordabe to use as an audio interface to send the audio to the iPad. You dont need an expensive one. Cheers and hope that explains things.

Thanks Anthony
I have routed it through an old alesis io dock that seems to be working great and charging the iPad as well.
Didn't even have to buy a new camera conector.
Cheers
