Which ESX realistic drums for Lyra?

Post by almsfurr » Tue May 24, 2016 3:51 am

Can anybody recommend a realistic sounding ESX drum pack for Auria that sounds as good as DrumPerfect. In my opinion, the drums pack for Lyra from the plugin store aren't up to scratch. DrumPerfect, although excellent, is hogging too much cpu.

I've tried a few free ESX packs people have put together on Logic Pro forums but, although some are nicely recorded, they generally have very artificial sounding velocity triggering.

Analogue Drums makes very good EXS drums. One of them, Big Mono (as the name say, a monaural drum) can be downloaded for free from their site (or used to be anyway). Unfortunately, the other EXS drums are a bit expensive, but are totally worth it if you can fork the money.

P.S.: if you are going to buy from Analogue Drums, be sure you're purchasing an EXS-compatible drum: most of the new ones are Kontakt-only.

Alright, I've mapped the Big Mono ESX24 file to GM midi, and it works with Lyra now. If anyone is interested, here's the file...

One weird thing though, when I mapped the ESX24 file, I included some panning for some of the kit but that information didn't seem to carry over into Auria. Any idea why that would be? Does Lyra not read panning information from a ESX file?

Your link is taking me to a 404. Is the file still there?

Not sure about how its dropping the panning. I've been loading up a few instances of Lyra dedicated to kick, snare, and hat anyway but will keep you posted if I come across something.
