Lyra Sampler: Bass
Re: Lyra Sampler: Bass
There are two acoustic bass samples in Lyra. They are under the String section: Bass Sustain and Bass Pizzicato.

Any idea where to shop for samples that will work?Rim wrote:The only two acoustic bass sampler in Lyra are under the String section: Bass Sustain and Bass Pizzicato.

Re: Lyra Sampler: Bass
There are lots of free samples that are compatible with Lyra. If you do a google search for SFZ or SF2 (Soundfont) samples, there are quite a few free ones available.
For example:

Once I find something I'd like to try how do I get the samples into Auria Pro?Rim wrote:There are lots of free samples that are compatible with Lyra. If you do a google search for SFZ or SF2 (Soundfont) samples, there are quite a few free ones available.

Re: Lyra Sampler: Bass
There are two ways to do it:
Using a computer:
Use iFunBox to copy them into the Sampler Instruments folder. Make sure they go into a subfolder of Sampler Instruments, for example:
Sampler Instruments
Bass
My Bass.sfz
Or, using the AudioShare app on your iPad:
If you have an SFZ you want to move to Auria, here are the steps:
1. Copy your SFZ and the associated samples folder to AudioShare
2. In AudioShare, create a new folder. Call is Sampler Instruments
3. Go inside the Sampler Instruments folder and create another new folder called Bass (or some other name)
4. Go back to the main list of files. Find your SFZ file, and tap on it for a few seconds until you see the menu. Select Move, and move it into your new "Bass" folder
5. Do he same thing to the SFZ samples folder (move it to the Bass folder).
6. Now long tap on the Sampler Instruments folder and choose Make Zip File
7. hen it's finished, tap on the new zip file (cancel the dialog that comes up asking if you want to open it). Then tap on the Send icon (the icon on the right with the box and arrow pointing out). Choose Auria.
8. That's all you need to do. Now your SFZ will appear inside the Bass category in Lyra's list.

Re: Lyra Sampler: Bass
Does this work with Auria that has been upgraded to pro?
I was trying to walk a friend through this, I tried it on Pro and it worked, but didn't work for him.
Was wondering if he did something wrong, or if it is an issue with upgraded regular Auria.
I know when he first tried to open a project I sent him, it said only works in Auria Pro.
Had him delete it and reinstall, the restore purchases.

Re: Lyra Sampler: Bass
Make sure he updates to 2.01. There was a bug that prevented zip files from being recognized properly in some cases in 2.00.

Re: Lyra Sampler: Bass
He got it to work.
Thank you,
One question, when adding more instruments, does it overwrite a zip that is in there, or just add what is contained to the Sampler Instruments folder?

Re: Lyra Sampler: Bass
A zip file won't overwrite folders, but it can overwrite the files inside them if they are the same name...

Re: Lyra Sampler: Bass
Thanks Rim,
I used iFunBox and that worked fine. Found a couple of free bass samples but nothing that was usable. I have and use Trilian Bass on the desktop but that is VSTi. Looking to purchase something close to the sound of Trilian that I can use in Auria. Suggestions from anyone here will be more that welcomed.
Thank You
Ron

Re: Lyra Sampler: Bass
Rim,
I am trying to load the Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra sound fonts into Lyra.
http://sso.mattiaswestlund.net/download.html
I saved the .zip file to Dropbox, and sent the zipped file to Auria. After opening Auria, I don't see the new sound fonts in Lyra. I do see them in the file directory though so they were imported at some level.
I have iFunbox but for some reason when I navigate to Aura there are no sub-folders.
The zipped file has a folder for samples, then subfolders by instrument. I this a problem? Can you suggest a way to import these assuming iFunbox is not an option?
Thanks.
Michael

Re: Lyra Sampler: Bass
It's very important that they're in exactly the right folder paths:
1. The EXS or SFZ files themselves need to go in a folder inside Sampler Instruments
2. The samples folder that goes along with your EXS/SFZ file should also go into the same folder
If this still doesn't work, send a picture of your folder structure. Maybe I'll spot the error.

Rim: Thank you.
I installed a new version of iFunbox, which allowed me to move the folder directories to the right place. I can now load the Sonatina instruments in Lyra.

Re: Lyra Sampler: Bass
If you check out the manual, also, Fabfilter has provided some excellent instruction on how to create your own sounds. Fabfilter one, one of the first sections is how to create your own bass sounds. Might be worth checking out, to dial in something you like.
