New Jam Up Seems Unhappy with Auria

Post by claudel » Thu Jun 12, 2014 8:07 am

Well, I had a most spectacular crash when I tried to load the new (10-Jun-2014) JamUp as an Auria plugin.

Completely locked up my iPad to where it wouldn't respond to any swipes or buttons for a couple of minutes, went blank for a few more, showed the white Apple, rebooted a couple more times and finally came back to life with unknown trauma below the surface.

My Auria project was completely trashed to where it wouldn't load ( I'd started a new one to test JamUp ) and every audio app I've launched since then has re-requested access to the system mic...

I'll try setting Auria into Audiobus mode to see if things improve...

Do you mean the JamUp Pro Auria IAP (a black entry in the FX plugin list) or were you loading the regular JamUp Pro as an IAA (Inter App Audio) (a blue entry in the FX plugin list)?

The two are separate entities and the Auria IAP version isn't updated simultaneously with the stand-alone app version.

Standalone JamUp Pro XP, not the version designed to be a plugin.

Blue in the pulldown...

It's always been uncooperative with Auria, sometimes loads, usually crashes the project.
Always crashes when I try to run as plugin @96Khz

I read the advice to use Audiobus mode in Auria after all this happened and I haven't tried that, yet...

IAA apps usually can't be run at 96K. In fact, very few apps other than Auria can run at sample rates other than 44.1K. Have you tried running it at 44.1? Doing that along with enabling Audiobus mode should work. Remember to close Auria and all other apps after enabling Audiobus mode.

I gave up on JamUP @ 96K a while ago.

Latest experiments are all @ 44.1

I put Auria in Audiobus mode, closed it.

closed all open apps.

cold-booted the iPad ( Air )

Restarted Auria

started a new project with one stereo track

added JamUp to the channel strip ( first slot, only plugin )

it launched JamUp without crashing but did not display the little "return to Auria" icon and did not pass audio.

I have background modes enabled in both Auria & JamUp

This is pretty much what it was doing before the last round of upgrades ( both apps ) most of the time.

Occasionally it might behave properly ( pass audio & switch back & forth ) but usually not.

If I double hit the round button, close JamUp without first removing it from the channel strip, and return to Auria it consistently always crashes Auria.
I've sent on a few of the crash reports from this particular annoyance...

Thanks for being helpful with this..

Sounds like an issue with Jam Up. I'll send them an email so they know about it.

Thanks for the help.

Feel free to share my contact info with PG if there's any further help I can offer.

I'd love to see JamUp work better with Auria
