AT LAST! The Apple Approved iStick USB Flash Drive
I hope this works or will work with Auria. I'm tired of itunes syncing.

This is not much different than a "wifi drive". The only difference is it allows you to plug it into the iPad, instead of using wifi. The same issue is still there - there's no way to directly access a hard drive/flash drive/etc from an app. Apple only permits an app to access it's own area on the iPad's drive (the "sandbox").

That's too bad. I was really excited. I thought this device would solve our itunes syncing headaches.
Re: AT LAST! The Apple Approved iStick USB Flash Drive
It's certainly a step in the right direction. As soon as Apple permits apps to access external data, we'll be all set.

Awesome!!! We are almost there
Re: AT LAST! The Apple Approved iStick USB Flash Drive
Maybe Apple can make an exception with Auria only since it's such a fantastic product and not a toy rather a serious tool.

Re: AT LAST! The Apple Approved iStick USB Flash Drive
My bad, I didn't scroll to the bottom of the page and read the proposed retail prices off the pledges list on the right. They should fix this though
Re: AT LAST! The Apple Approved iStick USB Flash Drive
Reasonable to hopefully eliminate the iTunes sync headaches. Which reminds me why I wasn't an apple early adopter since I fancied click drag rather than sync and wait.

Hi Rim,
I see earlier in the thread a quote from the manufacturer after a question:
"Do I need a special app in order to use iStick?
Yes. iStick requires a free universal iPhone/iPad/iPod touch app that will be available from the Apple App Store. We are also working with 3rd party app developers to have our iStick work on their apps as well."
Is it worthwhile for you to contact them with a view to Auria being able to work with their drive or is this something where the current Apple rules are unhelpful at this stage.
Kind regards,
Pete
