Live band (samples playback + click to drummer)

Post by Kryspinski » Wed Apr 09, 2014 10:31 am

Hey guys.
Sorry If I made a duplicate thread, but I´ve been searching forever and haven´t found a clear answer...
With my band we´ve bee using a macbook with Logic + audio interface for playing live. (stereo samples + separate track for the drummer)
I´d like to get rid of the computer and use only an iPad and an Apogee Duet. I haven´t purchased Auria, so I´d like to research whether its actually the right app for what I need...

So my question, can I do the following?
Have let´s say 9 sessions = 9 songs
Lock them and easily switch between them at a gig
Route the outputs on the Apogee Duet:
1 stereo track ---> FOH
1 click track (possible mix in the stereo track) -----> drummer

This is actually the only thing (I think very basic) I´d actually want to use Auria for. So if you think Auria is an overkill and I would be ok with an easier app, I´d welcome it (I in for whatever can do the above without crashing at a gig :-)).
I haven´t found much info on any app in regards of routing outputs of a sound.. thanks!!!

Auria can do this very easily. You can route different outputs into different channels on your interface using the output matrix. For example, you can send your click to Subgroup 1, then route that to output 3/4 on your interface, and send the main outs to 1/2.

Would I be ok with the LE version for this purpose, or would i find any benefits in te getting the full version?

You need the full version of Auria, as Auria LE doesn't have the Output Matrix.

Thanks rim.
I bought the full version and absolutely love it!!! Amazing app.

Would you have any advice on how to make the setup for a gig situation?
I was thinking on maybe putting the whole set into one project and switch between the songs (markers) with a midi switch.
I´d like the drummer to just have a HW controller and be able to press play/stop next/previous track. (just want to prevent him from accidentally pressing something different on the small screen or messing up the session)

Can I use something like the Presonus Faderport for this?
Also, can I set for example 10 markers? (the number seems to be limited?)

Auria doesn't have a way to control markers using hardware, and markers are limited to four at the moment (this will change in a future update). But you can control playback and recording using any MMC compatible controller.
