Alesis iO mix

I have been recording music on my iPad2 through my alesis io dock into garage band. I just upgraded to an ipad 4 and will also get Auria and a new interface. Has anyone used the Alesis iO mix interface or should I bite the bullet and go with the apogee duet? The quartet is way too expensive for me. I would like 4 mic preamps. Are there any other solid options? I also like the idea of the ipad being powered through the interface but I am not sure if that will be that critical. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I just upgraded to an iPad Air from an iPad 2 using an IO Dock. After looking at all the audio interfaces that have solid reputations I went with the Akai EIE (4ch). So far very happy.
