Re: iPad comparison chart
Cheers for that Marty
Looks like its only really worth upgrading if you own an ipad 2 or own a 16gb capacity ipad

Nice. Thanks for that - really helpful perspective!

Great article.
Thank you very much for referencing.

Re: iPad comparison chart
64bit A7 can probably process twice the amount of plug-ins and handle audio a lot better, so I thunk anyone upgrading will notice improvement:)
Re: iPad comparison chart
This says the iPad 2 has 1 gig RAM.
Is that correct? I've read on several other sites, including this one, that it only has 512 meg.
It's important question to me. I thinking of upgrading to an iPad 3 for the RAM only.
If the iPad2 already has the same RAM, I won’t.

Re: iPad comparison chart
iPad 2 has 512mb RAM (it's a misprint in that chart). But, the iPad 3 seems to be the device that gives audio app developers, and devs in general, the most headache. And users for that matter. It is underpowered (it has the same CPU as the iPad 2, and an underpowered GPU for its retina display) it'll cause random issues, which in turn leads to needing more support from the devs. So I'd consider looking at iPad 4 for more ram.

Thanks. iPad 3 has the 30 pin connector though. And I'm using an Alesis ioDock. That's why I'm looking at iPad3.ChrisG wrote:iPad 2 has 512mb RAM (it's a misprint in that chart). Re: iPad comparison chart
Has anyone tried hooking up a 30 pin to lightning cable to their Alesis IO Dock? I would assume it would work but want to hear if it's possible first.

Re: iPad comparison chart
For anyone thinking of upgrading from IPad 2 to IPAD 3 be warned as the IPad 3 has significant stability problems in certain situations. I spent several months trying to find the cause of this instability and was advised by RIM that the iPAD 3 had core audio issues. I recently upgraded to the IPAD 4 and all of the instability problems disappeared. Trevor
Re: iPad comparison chart
One of the things I'm glad to see on the Air is the drop to 32.4Wh on the battery. My belief is that this should restore a more reasonable charging time. The long battery life is great in all models, but when I upgraded from an iPad 2, I noticed a very dramatic increase in how long it took to get the battery fully charged. At times, it's downright painful.
Anyone have a real world comparison yet?

I'm curious about that too. I like & use the ioDock.martygras wrote:Has anyone tried hooking up a 30 pin to lightning cable to their Alesis IO Dock? I would assume it would work but want to hear if it's possible first.
