We Need Stable Midi Clock, But Don't Outpace The Hardware

Post by Dubhausdisco » Fri Feb 15, 2013 8:11 pm

Why do we need VI's when audiobus has already put a solid foot down? Why not create your own VI's and sell them in the App Store? A bit redundant, no? Virtual midi needs work, but when it's to the point where it's stable, why do we need to turn Auria into more of a CPU hungry app? I don't get it.
I agree auria would benefit from (stable) midi clock, and midi tracks, but why render every ipad before 4 obsolete for use with Auria?

Anyway, if you DON'T want this amazing app to bloat up and rip your ipad to shreds before you even play a note, place your vote.

Ps- this is not to say that wavemachinelabs can't code it properly, and maybe after a couple more generations of iPads we can remain calm when we open Auria and 7,8,9 or 10 VI's and not see smoke coming out of the headphone jack. Those folks here who come from a desktop scenario know exactly what I am talking about.

How would VIs inside Auria make your iPad obsolete tho? Just like the current effect plugs, all that stuff won't take any resources unless you use them.

Seriously,do you have more or less good experiences with it when sync BM to external gear?If yes, what Midi interface do you use?I tried it with iRig Midi and an Edirol UM1-SX(?)via CCK.The best i could get out of it was that Beatmaker was running 1-2 BPM faster when external sync from Logic Pro.Anything else than"usable but not perfect"for me :|

I use the akai EIE. Yes, I've had success syncing to and from reason,
and to BM2 from PT. yeah it's not as stable as dedicated hardware but I would say its a stretch to call it unusable.

Audiobus is nice, but it won't let me compose a song. MIDI is needed for that.

Dave, this is an excellent way to put it, and had I not made this poll in such haste, I wish I would have said this instead.
