mixdown AIF and add as new track results in empty bounce?

Post by rickboon » Tue Jul 24, 2012 10:50 pm

Hi, several times today I bounced a mix as a 16 bit AIF stereo file and added the bounce as a new track. The resulting bounce file was completely empty. Nothing was muted or soloed.
The file was simply blank, devoid of any signal but a complete stereo file. This happened several times. I could delete the track and repeat the process with a successfully bounced file instead of an empty one, without changing anything on the mixer or in the edit window.

OK, thanks. I'll add this to the list.

This happened to me as well yesterday, although I'm not sure of the specific conditions in which it happened. I would note though that though the clip in the new track was silent (and displayed as a silent waveform--horizontal line), I went to check the mixdown file by going to the file management in 'audio import'.. lo and behold the file itself was all there--so I simply imported it and put it back into place in the new track..

Interesting. So the AIFF file was fine, it just didn't import correctly after the mixdown?

Thanks,
Rim

Shane, I didn't try that-thanks for picking up on that. That info will more accurately guide the devs toward a fix. Smart bunch of users here!

Yeah, not sure if that's the same as what happened to rickboon but that is exactly what happened to me. Mixdown was fine, importing of the mix didn't work. If it happens again I'll take note of what I was doing at the time if that helps nail it down, because I have done mixdowns where this was not a problem.

More info the better I assume!

I can't seem to duplicate this bug. Here's what I try:

Load "The Approach" demo song
Click Menu, then click Mixdown
Choose Entire Song, AIFF, 16 bit, Stereo, Import As New Track, No Dropbox, No Soundcloud.

It exports fine, and I see the resulting audio.

Can you please try it again, and let me know if there's something different you're doing?

Thanks,
Rim

Never mind, I found the bug. It only happens if you type a new name into the name box.

Thanks,

Makes sense, happened to me again-- I had entered a name for the mixdown file.
