That would be easy to code, but most daws I've used don't do it that way, you draw the selection box completely around the things you want to select. This makes it easy to get precise results, if there are regions close to the area you want to select, but you don't want to include those.

maybe its just Logic Pro that uses the just-touching-to-select a region then, I can only vouch for that one.

If the majority of users are expecting it the other way i'll get used to it.
