Why -2.38 dB

Post by dominicperry » Wed Dec 12, 2012 3:21 pm

Anyone know why the default record level is -2.38 dB ? Seems a bit odd. And I have a very hard time setting it to 0.00dB __ 0.11 and -0.11 are its favourite settings :?

Also, any chance of a 0dB clip indication on the meters? I would like to finish a recording and be able to look back and see if I've overloaded the input.

Thanks

Dominic

That -2.3dB has been fixed in the current Auria version (1.04). I assume you're talking about the record input level?

All meters in Auria have clip indicators that turn red at 0dB. The stay on the screen for a few seconds.

dominicperry-

Just double-tap the record level knob to set it to 0.00dB

Yes, I thought you said it would be fixed but when I checked it, it was still -2.38 dB. But it's 0.00 with a new song. Thanks.

It would be great if there was an option to leave clip indicators on until cleared. But that may not be a simple request. I'll survive with it as it stands.

Right, old projects will still use that value, as that's what they were saved with.

Having more permanent clip indicators presents a problem because you need to be able to reset them by tapping on them. The screen layout is too tight to allow for that.

One possible solution (used by one of my Mac DAWS) is to have clip indicators which clear when you stop the transport. There would still need to be a setting somewhere for choosing hold times (e.g. 2secs or 15secs or Infinite). But, I realise that it's a 'nice-to-have' rather than a must have.

Thanks again.

OK, that's a possibility for a future update.
