Yep, that's one of the reasons we decided to push this update instead of waiting for Audiobus. We'll be pushing more bug fix updates like this from now on, instead of waiting to get new features in.

I'm not sure how easy it is to regress a version if a new update doesn't work for a customer, Apple doesn't make it obvious. Might be worth making a sticky thread with best practices for upgrading so as to help people avoiding the possible pitfalls of the upgrade process. For instance does making a backup from itunes give you a one click solution to reverting back to a known working configuration? What tools do you need to keep backups of projects, presets, gogfiles, plugins, IR files etc.

As people come to depend on Auria for their livelihood this will become necessary.

Unfortunately, it's impossible to revert in the Apple system. I've never found a way to do it.

It is possible to revert to an older version of an iOS app, but Apple makes it inconvenient.

First of all, Apple trashes the older versions each time you update, so you must backup the older .ipa somewhere outside the iTunes folder. I do this regularly, as there have been many cases where Apple has forced a developer to remove a very desirable feature in an update, or occasionally, the new version has a show stopping bug.

If you're an iOS developer, you can actually just plug in your device and drag the older .ipa over to the Applications folder in Xcode, and it will overwrite the newer app without even prompting you!

If you're not an iOS developer, then it must be done by dragging your older .ipa onto iTunes, where you will get a prompt "A newer version of the app ["Appname"] already exists in your iTunes library. Are you sure you want to replace it with the one you are moving?"
Once you confirm that, it will indeed overwrite the new version, however, in order to install it on your device, you will need to first delete the newer version from the device, and then reinstall it. Of course you also have to back up and restore your data files for the app as well.

Not as simple as it should be, but not impossible.

For developers, yes this is possible. But for non-developers, how would you go about saving an IPA of an app (unless the iPad is jailbroken)?

The .ipas are like any other file, they can be copied or moved. To locate the original on a Mac, just right click on the icon in iTunes and select "Show in Finder" from the drop down menu. Then copy the file somewhere else for later use if needed. No jailbreak or developer account required.

Also, when you let iTunes update an app, it puts the older ipa into the trash, but it doesn't empty the trash. So you can also retrieve them from there and save them to a backup location.

A very useful tool for file manipulation in iOS that is free and does not require jail breaking anything is ifunbox:

Windows and mac

It allows direct access to the file structure and an easy drag and drop interface. If it can save these .ipa files it could be ideal for creating roll back versions of Auria and backing up data.
