Set Record Level-Does it work?

Post by Lynn Fuston » Wed Nov 21, 2012 6:04 am

I was tracking electric guitar last night and tried Set Record Level to turn down the input level from a very hot USB mic. It had no effect on either A) the input level on the meter or B) the level that was recording. Even turning it down to -144 dB had no effect on record levels.

Also, I would suggest that a default level of 0.00 dB would be better than -2.38 dB.

This was using an iPad 4, with either of these interfaces: CEntrance mic pre, Focusrite 18i6, or any of these USB mics--A-T 2005, A-T 2020, Blue Yeti Pro or Snowball, Apogee MiC. Session was 48K.

What version of Auria were you running? You can check the version by going to the settings page. It's listed at the bottom. This was a bug which was fixed a while ago.

Same thing happened to me last night recording drums. I'm on an iPad 3 with Auria version 1.03.1. I thought it was strange but I ended up changing the input volume on my 1818 interface.

Actually, this was fixed in 1.04, I just checked.

I have 1.03.1.

Interestingly, the app store says all my apps are up to date, i.e. current.

How do I get 1.0.4 if the app store thinks 1.03.1 is current?

Also, would downloading and installing 1.0.4 erase all my current sessions, like the guitar ODs I recorded this morning in 1.03.1?

1.04 is almost ready to submit to Apple. Once we do, Apple usually takes 8-12 days to review it, then it will appear as an available update in the app store. There's no need to do anything with your projects. Updates don't disturb your data.

Is there a list of changes in 1.04 that I might read? I'd hate to mention a critique in a printed review only to find out the problem was fixed before the review was even printed. I'm wrapping up the review in the next few days. Chris M has my email address. Thanks.

...and it's been submitted to Apple already.
