Re-naming duplicate regions

Post by ajmack302 » Mon Oct 22, 2012 3:30 pm

Hey guys,

Is there a way to re-name duplicated regions?
(Eg. Recording some guitar parts on Track 1, add a new track, duplicate the regions from Track 1 and drag into Track 2.
Now if I wish to reverse the regions in Track 2, the regions in both tracks are reversed as they both share the same Wav.file name, does anyone know a workaround for this or is it a case of recording the same guitar parts twice?
Hope that made sense!!
Cheers

The issue here is that Auria is a non-destructive DAW, so when you duplicate a region, you're not making a fresh copy of the audio. Both regions share the same audio file, so when you use something in the process menu (which is destructive and operates on the file itself), it will affect both regions.

A workaround is to make a copy of the audio file. You can do this by bouncing it (using mixdown and soloing the track you want). This makes a second copy. Then you can process this new copy without affecting the first.

Of course! Forgot about 'bouncing'.
