Stereo and Mono
Stereo and Mono
Taking my 1st steps tracking using Auria i noticed DI'ing my bass guitar with an Apogee jam interface it was being recorded in Stereo. Is it important to record mono sources in mono and how do i switch between the two...?
Fantastic app by the way...looking foward to more plugins & updates.

Re: Stereo and Mono
The apogee Jam only has a single mono input. Are you sure you were recording in stereo? It's possible that you added a stereo track originally, but recorded a mono recording onto it.

Well...i set up the project with 24 trks and started recording..its just theres the infinity symbol at the top of the fader and two green meter lines going up and down i assumed this meant it was in stereo or double mono...?
I take it the source dictates track stereo/mono and is not switchable unless you are checking an entire stereo mix for phasing issues of course.

Re: Stereo and Mono
I had this anomaly just the other day. Created a mono track, recorded bass guitar through THM plugin then later after I noticed that the track eas now in STEREO and the track only offered me the stereo plugin FX not any mono. Strange but Ive had this happen several times throughout all versions of Auria. Cheers.

Re: Stereo and Mono
I thought I was going crazy, but I've had this happen to me too.
Re: Stereo and Mono
Can i actually merge a stereo track into a mono one? That would be really nice, cpu wise, i guess.
Re: Stereo and Mono
We may be talking about two things here. Auria will convert your track into stereo if you choose a Mono/Stereo plugin on that track.

Re: Stereo and Mono
Dear friends, another issue in Mono/Stereo: All tracks I had imported from GarageBand and audiopasted into Auria (via e-mail export from GB as m4a and LPCM/WAV conversion in AudioShare) appear as stereo tracks, also those I had recorded from a mono source (guitar/bass). Depending on the pan setting in GB there is either a signal on both channels (same on both if panned centre) or only on one (if completely panned to that side). Is there a way to convert the stereo track in Auria to mono; resp. delete the empty channel with no signal (if 100% panned to one side)? Or can this be done already in GB or on the way? Or: what are the consequences for mixing if I use the panned-to-one-side stereo tracks? Thanks indeed!
Re: Stereo and Mono
Auria doesn't have a way to convert a stereo wav into mono or vice versa. This must be done in another program, like Sound Forge, etc.

Re: Stereo and Mono
OK... I saw Audacity can do this but maybe there an iOS app which can do this?
Its not a big deal, I just want to "save" some of my old GB recordings and process them further in Auria.

TwistedWave
You can create Mono or Stereo documents where you can paste stereo/mono files, and copy/paste again to Auria.

You can do TimeStrech here.
