AAF import into Logic problem

Post by Dcramer » Fri Sep 14, 2012 6:49 pm

In both the original and updated versions of Auria I am experiencing a bug when exporting an AAF from Auria into Logic.
The AAF and audio files are created and the audio files look like the proper regions but they don't open in Logic correctly.
When opened in Logic, the tempo always remains at 120 bpm, the regions are never quite in the correct place and changing to the right tempo doesn't correct their placement. The real issue though is that although the arrangement appears to look correct, with the regions in the right places, the audio in most of the regions is wrong and is usually just copy's of the first region in the project. In other words, Logic can open the Auria AAF file, but always seems to use one regions audio to fill all the regions in the arrangement. Even then the regions seem to have slightly inaccurate start times.

Has anyone else seen this bug?

Tempo information isn't part of the AAF spec, so you won't see that transferred when creating an aaf file. If you send me a copy of your project, I can try to create an aaf file here, and see what's going on.

Thanks,

I sent private support email on this same issue a week ago. Project that I successfully imported via AAF/dropbox with 5 tracks worked perfectly with 1.0.

The last update I took the same song with total of 8 tracks. Imported to Logic and each of the tracks were duplicates of Track 1!

The support said this was addressed in the next update.

Fingers crossed

When I tried it in version 1.0 I had the Same results. It substituted most of my regions with audio from the first region and seemed to place them in slightly wrong places. I got the same results when trying it with the updated version.
I will try to get a project file to you Rim, thanks.

If your'e noticing a change in aaf behavior from one version to the next, there may be a new bug. Please send me examples, so I can verify what's happening.

I suggest sending it using DropBox or something similar (from your PC/Mac, not from Auria because of it's size). If you don't have a DB account, they are free. My email address is rim at drumagog (dot com).

Thanks,

Hi Rim, I sent you a link to the files I created with Auria demonstrating this problem.
Hope this helps!

I sent you a link to a Dropbox folder a week or two ago. Did you get it?

Really frustrating to have the AAF I/O to Logic broken after it working with 1.0....

I was lead to believe this was fixed with 1.03, which for some reason is delayed.

I have not had such luck.
AAF to Logic has never worked for me, I have had the same results in both versions of Auria.
I wonder all about the tempo issue;
I understand that AAF doesn't supply tempo information but when I create a project at 130 bpm and transfer it to Logic as AAF it appears in Logic and looks fine at 120 bpm.
When I change the tempo in Logic back to 130 bpm the regions that were butted end to end are now too long and overlap.
This makes no sense as the project was created originally at 130 bpm?

Dowloaded and ran 1.03 without a problem.

Exported AAF of project to dropbox. Imported into latest version of Logic.

Sadly the same problem remains. Every track has the same audio.

This worked perfectly with 1.01. Was ecstatic over this workflow. I will do anything you need to help you get this functionality back. I have sent you a link to the project in Drobox.

I haven't looked at this yet, as this is slated for 1.04 (1.03 was already in Apple's hands when you sent the project).

Any luck finding this bug?
Were you able to test the file I linked on Dropbox?

I haven't had a chance to look at it yet. Hopefully in the next few days.
