Re: multi output ?

iPads only support 2 outputs, so we are stuck with this limitation for now. If and when this limitation goes away, Auria will support more than 2 outputs.

Thank you,
I guess I will need to get the delay calculator out until then. :(

CoreAudio "minor brother" for iPad only supports devices with 2 output, like Rim correctly states... it would be nice Apple would upgrade this feature in its SDK (CoreAudio for iOS API)... it would be wonderful being able to give to the musician a separate submix (obvioulsy in PRE-FADER)...

Rim: wonderful job with your app... i will never stop to say this !

The "Auria Wishlist Thread"

Post by theaudiomaster » Thu Jul 19, 2012 6:28 am

Like audio interfaces working or not, it may be useful for the developers (and for consequence also for us) to let them know our wishlist for future killer-app-Auria upgrades.

Well, let start:

- Aux's PRE-FADER option
- Tap Tempo
- MP3 import/export
- Support for retina display (i know it requires more power than actual iPads, it would be only an eye-candy, not a real up...)
- Regions muting
- Possibility to switch channelstrips insert's order
- Multichannel EQ/COMP (possibility to work inependently on L or R channel of a stereo track)
- MID/SIDE encoder/decoder plugin

These are my first suggestion... fantastic app however !!!

About dithering

Post by theaudiomaster » Thu Jul 19, 2012 6:30 am

My question is: when i export a mixdown, is applied or not a 16 bit dithering (internally, due no popup for selecting it appears)?

Thanks

We decided against dither when converting from 32 or 24 to 16, but it may appear in a future version as an user selectable option. All internal recording is done at 24 bits.

- MP3 import/export is already a feature in Auria. Importing is done automatically through the import audio page (you'll see MP3 files listed there), and exporting MP3 is an option in the mixdown page.
- Retina support for Auria will only come when a new ipad becomes available with more RAM and faster graphics. Auria pushes the upper limit of what an iPad can do, and adding retina support to the mixer and editor pages would cause a large jump in the amount of RAM Auria takes up, which would cause more frequent "low memory" messages. Plus, waveform drawing would become very sluggish under retina. We've tested this extensively, and decided against full retina support in favor of smoother graphics updates and better performance (which is more important in the end). If and when an updated iPad model comes out that offers better performance and memory in this department, we'll add retina for sure (it's easy to do).

Glad to know about MP3 import/export, Rim!

About Retina... i'm with you... i repeat it would be only an eye-candy.. i prefer stability over visual sharpness!!

That's fine... the worst would have been the conversion 24(or 32) to 16 *without* dithering.. but exporting or bouncing to 24 is ok.

Thanks

Adding to the wishlist

-sidechain compression (expanded routing)
-tempo synced delay (looks like the echo IAP has it)
-MIDI editor with Instrument channels
-Virtual Midi (not sure how many background programs are compatible)
-Auto BPM detection Audio warping (Elastic Audio, like Ableton Live)
-Easier method to edit automation (I am having trouble selecting automation points near the edges of the edit window, maybe an edit mode button that lets you quickly touch automation points and only selects those).

You could do it with volume automation

one more

-option to lower resolution of waveform render, I would even take super blocky, if it would make it smooth for scrolling around the edit window, then you can kick it up higher when you need it, right now, it is a bit painfully slow on iPad 2.
