Not recording and tracks shifting forward

The audio is not recording
(even though it indicates that it is, watching it draw audio while recording)
On playback, all previous tracks shift forward by the exact length of the new “recording” (which isn’t there)

Update: When I changed the ripple edit from “global” to “active tracks only”, the tracks don’t move, but the recording track is shifted, yet it does actually record...
Now I need for the recorded track to stop shifting

Ok, I got it... went into Edit and turned off ripple edit...I must’ve turned it on by accident 🤪
