iPad 2017 vs iPad Pro

Post by rayetheridge » Sat May 13, 2017 2:28 pm

Has anyone witnessed any significant performance differences between the New iPad (2017) and the iPad Pro. I just recently purchased the iPad 2017 with the A9 which is a far cry from my previous iPad 2014 and it's A6.

In general has anyone had any issues with the iPad 2017? I am able to get my Focusrite 2i2 running plug-n-play in the iPad 2014 but my 2017 version is experiencing hiccups, pops and this weird replaying of licks I play during monitoring and I've not even recorded it.

I haven't got one but the reviews I've seen compare it to the Air 2 (not terribly favourably) rather than the pro. From that, I presume whilst the chip is higher spec than the pro, the rest of it isn't.

I would imagine in an application like Auria that the A9 would prove the claims that Apple is making about its being %70 faster than the A8 (iPad Air 2). I was just interested if any has compared them. I hear the A8 is already doing wonders with Auria ;)

It's certainly underspecced compared to either of the Pros, but, it really seems to be aimed at iPad Air 1 owners who would like better performance and to avoid obsolescence. It has the exact same physical dimensions as the Air 1, plus an additional Gb of RAM. So i could buy one and use it with my existing Logitech keyboard cover.

I think it occupies a space between the Air 2 and the Pro line, for now - it will be interesting to see if there will be an iPad, Air and Pro lines going forward, similar to their MacBook line.
