More instruments for Lyra

Post by Jmcmillan » Wed Nov 30, 2016 10:10 pm

I am new to DAW software and am looking for easy ways to add more nstruments to Lyra.
I have been google searching for good sample libraries that will work Lyra. The amount of results is overwhelming! To help me out, could someone suggest good sample libraries that have been tested and work in Lyra? I don't have too much time to tinker.

Also, I am specifically interested in orchestral instruments. Can someone share there opinion about Sonatina free samples? Do they work well in Lyra? Any other good samples out there that work well with Lyra? I am considering investing in iSymphic Orchestra or Sample Tank Philharmonic 2...any idea how they sound compared to Sonatina or other free ones?

Thank you in advance for any input anyone may have!

The Sonatina pack is free, so there's no harm in trying it :)

I've heard lots of good things about the latest Miroslav pack in ST, but haven't bought it myself yet. iSymphonic has some good sounds, but mostly ensembles, very few solo strings (only the cello, no violin).

I will try out the Sonatina pack...since it's free :)

I have watched sample videos of Miroslav Phil 2 but they were all for the desktop version. It seems like the desktop version is very good. I'm worried the iPad version is too trimmed down. Anyone have any experience with it, or both the iPad and desktop versions?

Also, wondering where the sounds come from that we're preloaded with Lyra. Anyone know their source? Do they come from the Sonatina library?

Thanks!

I copied this from this thread started by Metemi on the Imageline forums. http://forum.image-line.com/viewtopic.p ... 00&t=36569 There's links to a ton of samples as well, but here's the most important thing when it comes to Lyra. Not sure if any of these links still work, if registration is required, etc. Good luck mate and go nuts!

Trying SSO, I had to tweak the code to get the brass sounds working. They were very soft until MIDI velocity city 120, then they played super loud! @richardyot, have you had issues with SSO?

Thanks @jwmmakerofmusic for all the links, but I was hoping for soundfonts that had been tested and working well in Lyra. Not wanting to spend so much time tweaking sounds, but loading into Lyra what already works.

I hope Wavemachine Labs will make the best SFZs available for Lyra. IAP?

I think I may be giving up on soundfonts for Lyra. Too much tweaking and old technology, so the sounds are not so good, at least the sounds I can scour the forums for. I think I may just use other apps via core MIDI and Audiobus.
