Splitting regions covers up my edits

Say I paste a small section (or sections, as it were) on top of a region. If I split the region(s) ahead of where I pasted the edits, the edits go "underneath" the wave form. If I press and hold I can see the edit pieces underneath, but I can't bring them back to the "surface"; all I end up doing is inadvertently moving the wave form around, which I have to undo. Didn't immediately see it addressed in the manual. Is this a bug or something I'm missing? Was gonna post screen shots, no idea how to resize pics on an iPad. Thanks for any help y'all could offer!

Currently, there's no way to grab a region that's been buried underneath another one, without moving the larger region out of the way first. It's something that I'd like to add at some point though.
