Side chainning

Could someone please explain to me side chaining. I use pro c2 and pro q and am wondering about the process and benefits of using that drop down box. I'm still a nube so ELI5

This video is helpful, however it all sounds to me like MIDI. Are there tricks or tips for say audio or more specifically vocal tracks? When using side chain
