Does external sidechaining in Pro C2 work already?

Post by Soundseeker » Wed Dec 16, 2015 6:46 am

Hello, perhaps I do something wrong, but i can't get external sidechaining in Pro C2 to work.If I choose a channel, I want to get the sidechain from and activate "External", the EQ-Level display gets dead. When I press audition to monitor the trigger signal I hear all tracks in the project apart from the compressed channel itself.

In the case that it matters - i have Auria Pro (not the upgrade, but the full version) and transferred my Pro C1-purchase into it. Afterwards I've upgraded to Pro C2.

I would appreciate any helping hints on this!

I just tested sidechain and it works here. Is your ProC2 inserted in a track or a subgroup (or AUX)? I tested this with ProC2 inserted in a track.

Sidechain works fine but only with audiotrack. It doesn't work with MIDI track. Try to freeze MIDI track and all will work.

@Rim @Denzkps: Many thanks for checking this out!

Ok - it was my midi-track - did not know that sidechain doesn't work for midi.

Kind Regards!

You can side-chain a MIDI track if you route it through a bus send (basically this will use the audio from the MIDI). See here:

Thanks, I will add this to my list to fix.

One question - was your source a MIDI track, or your destination?

I've created 3 midi-tracks. On track 1 I put the compressor and selected track 2 as the sidechain-signal. All tracks with the Lyra sampler. When I selected the siedechain-channel in Pro C2 and activated external-sidechaining the metering of the eq got dead. After pressing the "Audition"-button, I heard the signal from Track 2+3.

I've freezed Track 2, track 1 and track 3 are still unfreezed. C2 on track 1 does receive the sidechain from track 2 - metering is active. But I can still hear Track 2+3 when I press "Audition". Shouldn't only track 2 playing back, when I press Audition? I've tried to freeze track 1, but in this case I can't edit effects anymore.

Yes, this is a bug, which I should be able to fix in 2.03. 2.02 is already out for review.
