Bug discovered in insert (plug in) effects.

Post by Amygdaloid » Sat Dec 05, 2015 11:02 pm

I noticed that when I use plugin effects (turnado, etc) the settings you make don't stay where you put them, as soon as you hit stop and rewind the song whatever setting you made in the plug in effect reverts to what I guess is some kind of default setting? The old version of Auria didn't do this, if you made a change in your effect settings it stayed that way as it should..... But effect settings are now not staying where you put them. And I'm not using automation or anything.... I'm using an iPad Air 2 at iOS 8.3. Am I doing something wrong??? I don't think so.... Please help, I love Auria and just want this to work.

Thanks for finding this. I have let Sugar Bytes know about this. Looks like there's an issue with their latest version.

Thank you Rim. But remember. It's happening with "all" of the plug ins

Do you mean all the Sugar Bytes plugins? If that's the case, they will fix it as well. They make both Turnado and WOW. Certainly it's not happening with other developer's plugins.

Hmmm, I have a track with both PSP piano verb, and Fab Filter C on it, and both of them were okay.

Are you sure about that? I don't have any issues here at all with other plugins. I just tried all the PSP plugins, and they're all working fine when you rewind the track.

The Sugar Bytes issue is something on their end, and it has to do with a setting in their settings panel called "Turn Off Knobs on Host Stop". This setting seems to always be on, even when it's turned off. I contacted them about it, and hopefully we'll get an updated version of Turnado from them soon. But there's no issue on other plugins here.

It seems to be happening with sugar bytes turnado, PSP stereo delay and PSP stereo chorus but on the PSP fx the knob changes don't seem to affect your sound, the settings you make on those do stick but the knobs show different positions.

Can you tell me how to make this happen? I tried the following and I don't see an issue at all:

1. Create a new project
2. Add one stereo audio track
3. In the new track, add Stereo Delay to insert 1
4. Move the Freq knob in Stereo Delay to full
5. Press rewind on the transport
6. Everything is exactly as it should - no issues

Please help me duplicate the issue you're seeing. Are you doing anything different. If so, send me steps like I did above.

Thanks,
Rim

They all work fine, but after the first setting and close the plugin. After some time when you open the plugin again, it will show other (initial) settings. One tap on the button returns to its normal (set) position.

The PSP knobs don't change when you rewind they change when you close the plugin window and then reopen it but this doesn't seem to affect the sound you dialed in, that's still there, but the knobs show different settings.

Ok, thanks. I just tried this - I set the knobs to a certain value, closed the plugin, then re-opened and the knob is still in the correct position. Is this happening with Stereo Delay? I can't get it to happen here like you describe, at least with Stereo Delay...

instead of a picture, would you mind making a short video showing this happening? This will really help me and PSP to hunt down and find this bug.

Thanks!
