Auto release in fabfilter pro c

Post by Renfield » Wed Mar 11, 2015 10:18 am

How does the auto release in Fabfilter pro C works? It doesn't matter which ratio, attack or gain reduction I set, the auto release is always 0,5 seconds.

I believe auto release is program dependent. So you would likely see similar settings for similar styles and maybe very different settings for say, dialogue.

Dang now I gotta go get the manual up.
Okay, here's the bit from the manual. Makes no sense to me... too vague:
The Auto Release button enables a smart auto release feature. When enabled, the compressor adjusts the release
time depending on the current amount of gain reduction, so this actually introduces an additional form of program dependency. When Auto Release is used, the Release knob changes into the Auto Release Speed knob that adjusts the overall effect of the auto release feature on the release time.
