Panning Stereo Tracks - Suggestion

Post by Bramasole11 » Tue Mar 10, 2015 1:41 pm

I'm a little bit confused by the action of the Pan control on Stereo Tracks.

Instead of panning both channels left or right, to my mind it would be more useful to split the tracks and pan one left and one right, as you turn to the left. If you turn the pan to the right, the tracks should swop over, so the one that panned to the left previously, now pans to the right and vica versa with the other track.

This would be useful, for instance, if you have mic'ed up an acoustic guitar with 2 stereo mic's. The new pan control would then enable you to produce more stereo width to the recording.

Keep up the good work, BTW, Auria is still the most outstanding DAW on the iPad and really challenges the big, expensive, boys on Mac and PC.

I absolutely love the ability to record in the studio and then editting and mixing in the comfort of my armchair.

Usually on an acoustic guitar you would have 1 or 2 condenser mics on separate channels so they can be processed separately. Occasionally there would also be a DI on a 3rd channel for options later.

Panning a stereo track is just adjusting the balance of the stereo field.
Look up Pan law. It is adjustable in Auria as it is in most DAW's.
