Fabfilter "A-B" button. what do YOU use it for if at all?

What was the original intended use, and does anyone use it in a different and useful way?

Do you use it differently in different Fabfilter plugins?

Pretty sure it's just like like A/B testing, you can dial in one setting for A, then another for B, and bounce back and forth and decide which one you like. I played with it a few times, might again, but usually I don't bother with it.

I use it with the Limiter to compare the different limiting algorithms. I'll dial in my settings with the all purpose algorithm, hit copy to copy those parameters to the "B" version, then change only the algorithm in the "A" versions. Then I close my eyes and quickly flip back and forth between A and B really fast so I no longer know which is which. Then I can slowly go between A and B with my eyes closed while listening to the music to decide which I prefer. Very useful for me.

Yeah, I suppose that it can be used to save your current edit state without saving a new patch

Was that the original intent? I haven't seen this feature on any other software, although I did see some posts over at the Fabfilter forums asking if the "A-B" button could be automated so you could get 2 different effects without switching the patch.

Quite a few plug ins use the same sort of thing, it's been around for years now.
