Why open with 8 subs, instead of 8 tracks?

Post by Bennyweinbeck » Fri Jan 03, 2014 11:19 am

Why does Auria open with 8 subs instead of 8 tracks? It would be much quicker if it would open with 8 tracks, or even 4. I'd rather create subs as needed. They just take up screen space. Is there a way to get rid of them?
Thanks.

Yes please, I'd love a way to hide the sub channels in the mixer too.

to be able to show/hide tracks and subs in general would be very useful.

They would still be active, just not visible if designated as hidden.

I'm happy with this behavior as is, but there's always room for making it more complex...
Hiding/showing tracks would slow me down way more than a simple side scroll with my fingers. Too much minutia.

OTOH
Templates may be on the way in a future update which would help you with the quantity of individual tracks you want to open with, but not the bus channels.

You can easily make a template project and copy/rename.

when you have a whole bunch of tracks that are part of the pre-production (ghost tracks etc) its very handy to have these muted and hidden. The idea is that you can go back and re-visit elements of the arrangement if need be. Its very handy especially when screen real-estate is limited (and a heavy track count makes the edit screen sluggish).

I wouldn't use it as a way of navigating around the edit screen as (I think) your suggesting.

Custom templates certainly would be welcome.

Yeah I can see that hidden tracks can be useful. I guess I don't do large track count projects so it doesn't really affect my current workflow.

It would also be very helpful for me to be able to either hide tracks OR to be able to move the master... When beginning a mix I like to start with drums or bass setting levels and keeping an eye on my master levels... It's really hard to do this with say 48 tracks where I have to scroll all the way to the right... Check the master meter... Scroll all the way left adjust the kick or the snare... Scroll all the way right again, check the meter.... Beck to the right for more adjustment... Etc...

If I could temporarily relocate the master near the drum tracks for this process... Or be able to hide the tracks between (although that seems like a lot of hiding/un-hiding) at least I could get the mix started right.

Just a thought ☺
Thanks for this app... And I can't wait to see Auria Pro!!

Hey @paperbone,

There is a button @ the bottom of the MASTER channel called 'METER', press that and see what MAGIC happens.. :)
