Why make it easy?

Are iPad music makers just gluttons for punishment? I know I am!

I have the same thoughts going through my head on a regular basis. Why do I always feel the need to make it more difficult for myself? I guess I just like the idea of doing something new and overcoming obstacles feels rewarding too but it does lead to frustration as well.

Musicians are goofy sometimes, doesn't make sense! :)

Well cost is a pretty big reason :)

I came to soft synths and DAWs pretty recently via the iPad, and wouldn't really be able to justify the investment to do the same on the desktop. But on iOS it's very affordable and a lot of fun.

Also, the touch interface does lend itself pretty well to music, I can't imagine playing a soft synth on a desktop app without some kind of hardware controller, no-one is going to want to play keyboards with the mouse, whereas a well thought out touch keyboard like Animoog is a joy to use.

Although considering the laptops I've had, the iPad is the least problematic.
Hit that button and go.
No waiting for boot-up, drivers, OS updates, anti-virus updates, Adobe Flash and Acrobat updating almost weekly.
