IAA with multiple channels?

Post by instinctive » Wed Oct 23, 2013 11:57 am

Hi,

will it be possible at a later stage to route several seperate stereo signals from a single app to seperate stereo tracks in Auria? For example, Sampletank can provide up to 4 sounds simultaneously controlled on seperate MIDI channels and as you currently can only load each app once, this would be very helpful for people who have powerful devices and want to keep everything Live (no printing to tracks).

Currently, IAA only supports a stereo output from an app, but as soon as they support more, I'll look into this for sure.

Thanks Rim. Of course, Apple getting rid of the "One instance per App" limitation would be far more useful, however I guess this limitation is entrenched so deeply in iOS since the very beginning that this will probably stay forever...

Audiobus can do it because they send the audio through a midi connection (proprietary). There's a lack of proper documentation from Apple about what IAA can do right now, but in my experiments, only 2 channels are possible right now.

Holy moly! Sending data with about 100 times the intended bandwidth, and with such stability and without significant impact on the CPU -- CoreMIDI must *really* be pretty awesome!
