Numerous bug on 1.130 :(

Post by xine44 » Sat Oct 12, 2013 3:48 am

Hi all,
Deception with this version with up 400 meg (ipad 16go so it's really annoying)...
Inter-app is buggy as hell, the record is strangely more speed and a little stutter !
I have try imini (crash under auria, not tabletop :>), magellan and Arturia Isem...
Always the same problem, and a 'buffer too high' in magellan reported with high latency, that not resolv with buffer modification in auria...
Just to say that in tabletop no problem at all, so ios7 is not guilty.
Have i something to do to workaround this problem, or shall i waiting to the next update ?
Thanks in advance

I'm on iPad 2 16gb iOS 7. I tried recording Arturia iSEM, but got a CPU overload. I went into Auria setting, and the under the "record" tab the buffer/latency was set to 256. I changed it to 512 and voila it worked like a charm using and recording iSEM into Auria (atleast on the presets I tried, and my project was a small one).

Close all apps running by double clicking the home button and swipe away all open apps. Restart your iPad, change the record buffer in Auria to 512 or higher and you shouldn't have any problems with iSEM. Of course, it also depends on how much memory and CPU your project already uses. Your iPad can only do so much...

Edit: Also, there ARE various issues with IAA that only Apple can fix. So don't jump to the conclusion straight away that the issues are with the host. And can't really compare two apps like tabletop and Auria, they all use different amount of system resources etc.

Magellan stop to lag only with auria's buffer set to 128
And yes with tabletop, but auria could be sooooo great app that i became instantly angry when disapointed ;)

Thanks for the feedback, guys. IAA is definitely still buggy, mostly due to issues out of our control. Apple hasn't released any documentation whatsoever, so developers have to figure it out themselves, and this can lead to problems of incompatibility.

These are the bugs in IAA that we know about so far:

- Sometimes an IAA doesn't get unloaded properly, and you can't load additional IAAs until you kill all your apps.
- Sometimes all audio gets muted for no reason. The only solution is to kill all apps and try again.

I'm sure we'll discover more, so please let us know what you find!

Auria has two buffer sizes: record and playback. Only the record buffer is user adjustable. Some audio apps don't like Auria's large playback buffer (4096). To resolve this, make sure you start the other app first, before you launch Auria. This will result in Auria using the same playback buffer size as the other audio app. Another way to solve this is enabling Audiobus Mode in Auria's settings. This forces Auria to use a small playback buffer (512).

The disadvantage to doing this is Auria's CPU usage will go up, since when you lower the buffer size, you increase the CPU usage.

Make sure you kill all apps (including Auria) after you make this change.

Recording isem with IAA in stereo seems not quite right to me unless I'm doing something wrong

You play and the app sounds lush stereo sounding you then record and playback the recording seems to sound mono and lifeless
Any else found this

Also if you go to menu load project and scroll it crashes Auria. ,if you press load project and don't scroll leave it for about 10 or so secs then srcoll it seems to work

I just discovered this also. Just remember to remove the IAA after you're done recording and it'll be stereo again. It seems Auria is playing back your track as mono if an IAA is present while playing back. I'll get this fixed for 1.14.

There is an audio preview, but the speaker can't be seen in iOS7. It's on my list to fix. Just click the blank area next to the track selector to preview.

I haven't seen an issue where import audio crashes. Can you describe the problem?

Another IAA bug we discovered:

- After you finish recording, make sure you remove the IAA plugin from the list before you take the track out of record enable. Pressing the REC button beforehand will cause stuttering.

I did exactly that in my first test this morning. Recording 3 different IAA synths, one after the other, was without any problem. iPad4, 256 rec buffer, 32-bit mixer.

I was looking forward to using Amplitube as an insert but after the upgrade I have the track showing input but as soon as I insert Amplitube I lose the signal. Very disappointing. I'm going back to the MacBook so I can actually get something done. Crashes and restarts are not productive.
