Connecting Electric Drum Kit To Auria

Post by AJG231 » Sat Aug 31, 2013 7:11 pm

Hi,

I am a newbie at this so please be gentle.

I have recently downloaded auria which I love and have been recording vocals and acoustic gtr.

However I would like to connect an electronic drum kit to the iPad to record in auria. Does anyone have any recommendation for apps that can do this ?

I would appreciate any information you can give

Do you want to use the sounds from your electric drum kit or are you looking to trigger other sounds from within the iPad? Do you have the camera connection kit and an audio interface? If so, which one?

Hi Syrupcore

Thanks for the reply

I would like to trigger sounds from say, DM 1 drum machine app.

Yes I have the camera connection kit and my interface is a focusrite 6i6

You'll need audiobus. Dm1 in the input slot, auria in the output.

For MIDI, your drum brain will need to map the notes from your kit to the dm1 midi notes as they can't be changed from within the dm1 app (I don't think). You can use an app called midi bridge to convert the note values in real time. I'm DM1 go to song, then midi and under the input side tap 'notes' next to your focusrite (or next to MidiBridge if you go that route).

Awesome thanks for help.

Do you know of any apps that would allow me to reassign the midi notes ?

MidiBridge will do it. Not exactly simple but pretty straight forward. It's handy for lots of other midi things too!
