Core audio mode selection with duet

Had a chance to do some recording with 1.11 tonight and have found that the legacy option within the core audio mode setting is the only one that allows me to avoid latency issues when tracking through the duet.
In each different core audio mode I recorded a rhythm guitar track then an overdub. In all but the legacy mode, i experienced significant latency with the additional tracks.
Anybody else have a similar experience?
Just wondering why the legacy mode is the only one that works with duet.

This has been discussed in another thread. Apple has many bugs in the newer CoreAudio modes, and sometimes Legacy mode works best. Apogee is releasing some firmware soon that will allow standard mode to be used as well.
