As an iOS developer, I can't talk about any details about iOS7 because I have an NDA with Apple, but feel free to discuss among other users.

Here's what AudioBus is saying, which isn't much.

I'm hoping and this maybe possible now and I just don't know how to do it

Layering sounds. Like playing one sound from one app say sampletank & another sound from iMini an the same time
Like piano sound with a pad sound 8) sort of thing

As a registered Apple Developer myself, I have looked at the SDK and it looks good for the future of Midi and Audio in iOS. There will be a strong integration of audio and midi in future music creation apps. Without saying too much, I can say that we all picked a platform that is NOT being left in the dust. Apple and it's developers are bridging the gap from desktop Daws to iPad Daws. We should see features in the future that will truly call the iPad Professional. With the introduction of the new iPad Retina model later this year, we should see the iPad and iOS 7 create the best music app yet and current apps like Auria will have SDK options unlike never before. As for Jus's question on layering sounds, you can do this in Audiobus by simply assigning each synth to a different track and they all play together at the same time. I often record my piano/strings and vocals all at once. Once recorded then blending the tracks to make a stacked sound is very easy. As well you can use Virtual midi and assign the two/three synths on the same midi channel and they will all play together.
Cheers everyone and lets all keep creating with this device as it's because of us and how we use the iOS system in our music creation that is driving this great new technology.

@jus just make sure both synth apps are on the same midi channel or are receiving virtual midi from the same app. As long as one or both have background audio, audiobus isn't needed at all - unless you want to record them. :)
