Snap idea

Post by mtingle » Mon May 27, 2013 7:40 am

When using the snap function the way I use it is always to flip between 'none' and 'beats' continually flicking between the two for various editing needs.

A rather useful feature UI refinement would be to make the '#' symbol next to the snap drop down menu be a global snap on/off button. That way you could toggle between the 'no snapping' and snap value of your choice very quickly indeed.

You could also remove the 'none' option from the snap menu if you wanted as Turing off the snap would be the same as the 'none' option.

Sounds great in theory, and that's how a lot of desktop DAWs do it. But in Auria's case, there's just not enough room to be able to click that little # symbol. You really need 40x40 pixels to have a good touch zone.

Perhaps. It's a little big compared to the menu, and making a menu that large looks bad. Maybe I can just increase the touch zone around it. I'll have to play with this and see if it makes sense.

Thanks,
Rim

Perhaps have the button the original size but put a faint outline around the (larger) touchable area? (Maybe this area would glow when on?)

It's also necessary to turn snap to off when duplicating to make sure the exact relative placement of regions is maintained, so having a quick toggle for snap on/off is extra useful on a regular basis.
