Re: firewire to USB adapters...
I don't think so as the unit would have to be core compliant meaning that the unit has to be able to be installed into the iPad without a driver so it is likely that a firewire unit would not have this connection capability. As well I am not sure that a Firewire unit turns into a USB unit because it has an adapter connected to it. Both methods use not only different hardware, but different software as well. USBs work on an ACK/NAK protocol, while FireWire uses a DMA transfer protocol. FireWire works at a constant (and fast) rate, while USB sends data in bursts. FireWire needs a processor on both sides of the data transfer.
Power consumption of both ports will be different. Therefore, one port will run at a lower power than the other, causing failed or incorrect use. You can try and no damage will occur if it doesn't work. Good luck and let us know your findings. cheers and hope this helped.

Awe yes do be careful as this power difference could become dangerous as Jus suggests. I would choose not to now that we have this info. cheers.Jus wrote:I wouldn't if I were you

They don't. At least for my alesis FireWire mixer into windows 7. It wasn't the cost that botherd me...it was waiting the 2 weeks to be disappointed that did waiting for the cable and adapter to come from china. They are a hoax from my experience
