Feature suggestion for faster editing of automation

Post by mtingle » Fri Mar 22, 2013 3:40 pm

edit window:

how about double tapping the track name expands the track height and shows the last automation worked on ready for editing?

Double tapping the track name again shrinks it back to the original size.

This would make the speed of work flow very fast and intuitive when it gets to that point in a project when your mixing and automating parameters.

The double-tapping on the track name is a good suggestion for making that track full screen. But I'm not sure about switching to an automation view by default. Some users would probably want to work on edits on the actual audio, and might not use automation.

how about:

-1st double tap opens the track, no automation
-2nd double tap turns on automation (set to last parameter worked on)
-3rd double tap returns track to initial size

I feel that could be confusing for some. Without reading the manual, I could see some users saying - every time I double tap, I get something different. Besides, a couple of double taps is almost as easy as pressing the automation selector and choosing the automation you want. I'll have to think about this some more. I appreciate the suggestions!
