Edit Window - Recording without layers
Sorry if this is a remedial question but how can you record without every take layering upon the next? When I edit/move regions etc. I keep exposing bad takes (regions) underneath that I don't want. Any help out there?
Re: Edit Window - Recording without layers
seems like you would have to do some house keeping as you go along and delete / move takes that you don't want after each recording.
Re: Edit Window - Recording without layers
Or at least set your 'auto punch' points so wide that the newest take exactly lays over the older ones. Auria, by default, plays only the top layer. That is, assuming you're using 'auto punch'....

Thanks guys, so it sounds like the best thing to do is hit "undo" after a bad take?
Re: Edit Window - Recording without layers
Exactly. Hitting 'undo' after a take for me is such a habit that I almost do it after a good take.
Re: Edit Window - Recording without layers
of course. I/every producer do/does this since the first DAW. Undo a not perfect recording, be it audio or MIDI. Don't even think about keeping it, just hit ctrl z or undo and try again.
In earlier days one just rewound the tape to Mem1 position and recorded again, overwriting the previous take.

Cool, that works for me. It would be nice if there was some sort destructive record mode.
