Audiobus / Auria

Post by Rim » Sun Feb 10, 2013 5:45 pm

Auria 1.07 will include some new Audiobus functionality:

- Auria will automatically create new tracks when it detects a new Audiobus input. Also, it'll automatically assign the proper Audiobus input in the input matrix when it creates these tracks. This will greatly simply recording with Audiobus.
- Auria will also include a new mode in the settings: Audiobus Live mode. Using this mode will reduce latency by allowing the monitoring to be completely handled by Audiobus, instead of passing the input through Auria's mixer (which adds some latency).

Rim,

This is great news! The 1st change should make use of Auria with Audiobus much more convenient. Since this is the one case where Auria actually knows what the track should be called (since it's getting this info passed from Audiobos), can Auria [optionally] automatically name the tracks that it automatically creates? This would rock!

Also, what will be the default behavior if we add an instrument [or more] in the Audiobus input slot, then remove them? When added, Auria will create a track. Will the track remain if the input is removed? If I add Animoog, then remove it, then add it back again, will Auria automatically reconnect it to the same track?

My vote would be to:
1) automatically name tracks
2) don't delete tracks once created (if removed from Input slot)
3) reconnect to the same track if an app is re-added to the Input slot

I suppose there will be other opinions on the ideal Auria/Audiobus behavior, but this will be much better in any case.

Thanks,
John in Boston

Auria will automatically name the track, and will not remove a track once an input is no longer available. Also, the plan is to have Auria automatically reconnect the input if you remove it, then re-add it.

Yep sounds really good! But I'll still be able to use the "old" mode where the audio passes trough the Auria mixer so you can hear the effects in real time right? (Just to be sure)

Definitely. Live mode will be an option in the settings page.

I'm still investigating that report, but I'll be spending more time on Audiobus before I release the update.
