Finetuning the Fabfilter Plugs

Post by CEIsar » Tue Jan 22, 2013 2:02 pm

does anybody have a tip how to finetune a KNOB in a Fabfilter plugin?i really love the way to"draw"into the EQ or a filter window but it's a pain in the ass when i need an accurate value. It always jumps at least between 1-3 db when i release the knob.I hate Especially those knobs with a small ring for a second function (hello timeless).I really love the Fab plugins and i'm more then happy to have em onboard (already bought half a dozen)but that's a quite loveless port to me (i can imagine they could be more cpu friendly as well with a little effort...),most parameter still made for using with a mouse and a clear disadvantage on a small touchscreen.

Using circular mode doesn't change anything, the plugin is still in linear mode. But i don't care cause i don't like the circular mode
very much.

We need a text window by doubble clicking on a knob, same behaviour like it is on the PC/Mac plugs.

Ha! I got exactly the same problem. And especially in Saturn a minimal change can lead to huge differences...

yep,not only in saturn.3db can be a hell of a difference in most situations :)

the usually hidden in/out knobs are my very "best"friends...

Yeah, it's the panning mostly. I'm very glad i don't use these, yet.

yep,it's still the help text from the PC/Mac plugs.As i said,loveless port.

Now we have a reset value when doubleclicking but it would make much more sense to have the old behaviour (with the type field)back.I am really a bit pissed off,it's just not possible to enter accurate values in serious tools like ths.Did they even (beta)test their plugs?

i guess i'll open a thread in their forum cause there are a couple of things that sum up now.Bugs as well.

the plugs might be cheap compared to their PC counterparts but they are still expensive for IAP's.This deserves some developer support as well.

but this would mean they have to change the GUI just for"some"iPad user,i'm pretty sure (just a feeling)they wouldn't do this. But it's not necessary, just make the doubleclick open a textfield again. They wouldn't have to change anything GUI related for this.

i opened a thread here:

Interesting. And i've to admit, the controls are really small, even for small hands. Guess it's time for a stylus soon.

Given some of siri's responses to funny questions, I wouldn't doubt that her answer to that one would be "Steve Gadd can be hired by calling 555-5555."

by the way, theres no way to sync the plugins to the host tempo, right?Big disappointment, halves the wonderful modulation possibilities :|

i would really need it in my current project.

edit:the developer responded to my post.for finetuning touch and hold the knob you would like to change and put a second finger somewhere in an unused area of the plugin. Then move the first finger to get fine tuned values.Seems to work great.editing the value by typing is most probably coming in a later update.

This also works in Pro-Q when working frequency points in the graph.
