Re: Punching in on the fly
I agree manual punch-in has its purposes. In modern DAW's, but also in the old cassette-tape times (Tascam 238), I learned to use (and enjoy) predefined punch-in quite a lot. But the foot pedal for quick and spontaneous punch-in was also important.

Re: ASK THE RECORDING EXPERTS
for me it makes sense. If it doesn't make sense to someone, he can change it in the settings. Simple. Let's not waste our time with such things. Just listen to the music produced with Auria. Those composers do not question such things, they simply work with Auria, and produce music with it. That's t...

Re: Wish list for 2014 for Auria
I didn't want to reveal too much, but let's just say that I'm working on a "big" update, and this is why I haven't done any posting. I think you'll be happy with it once it's out ;) Rim a couple of feature request came to my mind recently when I sync'ed Auria to the DAW on the computer, b...

Re: ASK THE RECORDING EXPERTS
I'm no expert either, but that is pretty much the purpose of pre-fader metering. In a DAW on the computer one usually has an input channel whose fader usually remains untouched to display the input level, and an audio channel with rec or monitor enabled that displays approximately the level one will...

Re: ASK THE RECORDING EXPERTS
I don't think the iPad is suited for audio restoration. No dedicated app suite for this task, no ideal data transfer, small screen ... Noise/hiss is generally difficult to remove. And there is no app I know of that does denoising. No wonder, we don't need that anymore, all recordings are clean and n...

Re: Is 16GB iPad enough? HELP
I would say it's one of the best solutions for the iPad at the moment. And I'm also working with 16 GB iPads by the way. The Duet 2 is not expandable like the RME BabyFace, but if you're recording only one or two sources at the same time it's perfect. The USB MIDI port was a good decision from Apoge...

Re: Focusrite 2i2 recording vocals in stereo?
this is absolutely normal to record vocals in mono. Vocals usually don't have stereo information, so it would not make sense to record something that is not there. This is the reason why microphones for vocal recording are all mono. But of course it is possible to record stereo: create a new stereo ...

Re: Fabfilter Pro C sidechain
sure, but what about the Auria (PSP) channel strip? Did I misunderstand something? Yeah, I think I did. Will have to purchase Pro-C to make side-chaining possible in Auria. Although it has no priority, I'm doing fine without side-chaining. Just wanted to clear things up.

hm, haven't worked lately with Auria and Pro-Q. In pre-iOS7 times such things never occurred.

Re: Fabfilter Pro C sidechain
O.k, just had another quick look and I've got it working just fine on the regular channel strip, but it didn't seem to react on the busses. Not sure why that would be? sorry for asking, but how do you enable side-chaining on the regular channel strip? Rim said that it's only possible with FabFilter...

Re: ASK THE RECORDING EXPERTS
this is great, I didn't know that. I only have the Pro-Q, and in this case the Pro-C becomes really interesting for me. Thank you Rim, I missed that info about side-chaining.

Re: external sync track
and also without using the earphone output, you can route all recorded tracks to the left output channel, and the click track to the right output channel during recording. I have worked with 2-in/2-out interfaces for many years and still do. It's not so comfortable, but not a problem to record mono ...
