Re: Itunes Mastering Tools
Without putting too fine a point on it..... the day iTunes tells me how to master a track is the day I give up. F**k iTunes " rules" about making music.... The only thing the MFiT program does is provide tools and guidelines so mastering engineers and producers can be sure their files don...

False, sample rate conversion doesn't work like that.dominicperry wrote: Likewise, far more sensible to submit 88.2KHz files to convert to 44.1KHz. Converting from 96KHz to 44.1KHz involves a lot of rounding errors. Not sure why everyone is obsessed with 96KHz.

Here's some more info on the MFiT program: http://tarekith.com/mastered-for-itunes/ I'm an Apple approved MFiT mastering engineer, so if you have any questions just ask I'll answer them as best as I can. I have a broken hand at the moment so typing isn't the easiest, please bear with my short replie...

Re: Auria + Positive Grid's new Final Touch mastering App??
While it would be more expensive you can do mastering in Auria using the Fabfilter plugins. Between Pro-L, Pro-MB, Pro-Q (in Linear Phase mode), you pretty much have most all of your mastering bases covered and I can tell you they are extremely high quality for this purpose too. I can't say about t...

Re: How to set up a Vocal Mixing Workflow in Auria?
No need to use subgroups at all for reverb and compression in this case, just use those on the vocal track directly if that's all you're sending to those effects. Typically subgroups are used when you want to send multiple tracks to the same effect. Say a bunch of drum tracks to the same reverb. You...

Re: Mixing Vocals
Agreed, the last thing people new to mixing need to mess with is saturation and side chaining IMO. Here's a quick beginner guide to mixing that give you some more ideas:

Re: Mixing Vocals
Best advice I can give is try and do as much as you can with the mixdown using just the volume faders first, before you start turning to effects and tricks. Often times that can get you far closer to the result you're after and you can just fine tune with effects if needed. One thing that strikes me...

4 was barely better than my 3, luckily the Air makes it smoother. Still sluggish once I get above 6-7 tracks though, especially with lots of smaller audio files.

Re: Can you record at 96kHz if the interface maximum is 48kH
In that case, I would say definitely not, stick with 44.1. Unless you have quality converters to record with, and a top notch sample rate converter to down sample later, often times any possible tiny benefit of recording at 96 is lost when you down sample to 44.1. It's possible to make things sound ...
