Re: Pro-DS...Before or after reverb

Confused here now with those two different answers! Sounds like RIM might be the guy to help here

Re: Pro-DS...Before or after reverb

Great thanks, that's good to know. On the Sub-Group, would the De-esser need to appear at the top of the list and the reverb below it, or vice-versa? Also, if the Aux's are pre-plugin & pre-channel like you say, if the De-Esser is applied to the channel strip, that De-Ess is after the reverb...i...

Pro-DS...Before or after reverb

I have a vocal that needs De-essing but the sibilance gets worse when reverb is applied (a common problem). I currently have reverb dialled in on an Aux return and Pro-DS as the only plug-in directly on the Vocal channel. The reverb is set to around half way on the Aux knob. What order is it best to...

Re: Recommend Your Best Mic

I use a studio projects C1 for everything except electric guitars. A truly awesome mic, IMO the best condenser on the market for the money.

It even makes my vocals sound good!

Re: Mastering Workflow?

Good advice, however no answers to the questions asked unfortunately. Yes 1000 CD's will be duplicated so there goes any cost I could spend on a mastering engineer. I HAVE to master this myself. I understand that using a mastering engineer offers another level of professionalism and a new set of exp...

Mastering Workflow?

I'm about to master my first album that I've mixed and wondered what is the best workflow. Do people master each song individually using the master strip or are the individual mixes imported as wav's to a separate project so they can be mastered in one timeline? If the songs are mastered in their in...

Re: Reverse Reverb Effect?

This worked even better than i'd hoped. Thanks for the advice. Just an idea for anyone else trying to achieve a more subtle version of this effect (like me). I ended up doing this: Once you've followed the steps in the previous post try just trimming the new reversed reverb vocal to just before the ...

Re: EQ a thin Vocal?

I tried the doubling method but kept both tracks panned centred...sounds really good now.

I also added a small bit of EQ in the mid-range which helped.

Re: Reverse Reverb Effect?

Thanks guys. Just to make sure I've got this... 1) Copy PART of track I want the effect on to a new track 2) Process > Reverse 3) Add Reverb on new track insert 3) Bounce/Mixdown Track 4) Import bounced wav 5) Reverse imported wav 6) Repeat above steps to other parts of original vocal track where de...

Reverse Reverb Effect?

Anyone know the steps to make this work in Auria? Seems simple enough but I can't seem to work it out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8OqYulY_SVs I mixdown a solo'd vocal track with reverb (from an aux send), reverse the mixdown but when I reverse again it goes back to normal. What am I doing wrong?

Re: EQ a thin Vocal?

Thanks Anthony.

I'd planned on purchasing MicroWarmer soon to add to the master strip as part of the mastering process so it's handy you mentioned trying this on the thin vocal. I'll look at the presets when i get it and take it from there.

EQ a thin Vocal?

Hi all, I have recorded a vocal that sounds too thin and I reckon it's most likely down to the mic being too far away from the singer. Re-recording is not an option as the singer is now in another country! Can I use the channel strip to EQ the vocal to add warmth & presence or would I have to in...

Re: Turn down Master Fader - clipping?

This is an interesting topic and it's great so many people have weighed in. The answers coming back however do seem a little inconsistent. Now I'm confused if i should simply turn down the master fader or use the gain reduction on each track with the master at 0? If I master with Pro-L at the final ...

Re: Old Timer vs MicroWarmer vs Pro-L

You don't really need to bounce down for mastering into a separate project, just use the inserts on the Master Strip. It's much simpler if you can keep everything in one project, otherwise you will have to constantly go back-and-forth to adjust things. Yes I was thinking it would be simpler in one ...
