Re: I think that my query has something to do with midi
If you need a piano roll editor then the only all-in-one solution is Music Studio - if you watch the Youtube video I linked to above you can see it has a piano roll editor and it comes with the full Sonatina orchestra. It's also on sale at the moment. Otherwise you can use Sampletank, BS16i, or Soun...

Re: I think that my query has something to do with midi
The trouble with Garageband is that you are really limited in what you can do. Using a sampler app lets you play a lot more varied stuff, and believe me it really isn't difficult :) I was able to make the samples I posted above in minutes, and that's without really being able to play the keyboard at...

Re: I think that my query has something to do with midi
Actually I personally prefer the free Sonatina soundfont (that you can play in either BS16i or Soundfont Pro) to the Miroslav IAP in Sampletank, however going the Sampletank route is easier since it doesn't require installing the samples manually. The manual install is pretty easy with iFunBox so it...

Re: I think that my query has something to do with midi
It's easily achievable with apps such as BS16i, Soundfont Pro, or SampleTank. Music Studio also includes some orchestral instruments. For example here is a sample I created with BS16i using a soundfont that is readily and freely available on the internet (Sonatina orchestra): https://soundcloud.com/...

Re: Has Santa Been?
Now I don't need to find a budget for some headphones, I think EZ drummer is the way. Since you're a drummer, I personally don't think this is the best way to go - what you should consider is finding a way to record a performance and then use Drumagog to replace the sounds, while still keeping the ...

Re: Has Santa Been?
I will try to understand the channel strip as you suggest, Mark. I tried using the expander bit but realised I didn't even know what it was, so should probably work that out before messing again! ;) If you read that book you should have no problem understanding the expander, or the rest of the chan...

Re: Has Santa Been?
I've had those 3 for a while, and they're all really good. I took advantage of the IAP sale to buy, erm, all of the others... So I have a lot of learning and playing ahead of me in the new year. I've read a couple of books on mixing and mastering, as well as watched a lot of videos, so the knowledge...

Are you sure about this? Mixdown should be lossless AFAIK.hotlipslawson wrote:The "Mix Down" function may allow me to keep effect info via freezing the track, but I don't like using mix down any more due to the automatic compression stealing the punch (high & low freqs) from my tracks. Any other ideas?

Re: M7 CoProcessor / 64bit as a solution for still not much
According to informal tests run on the Audiobus forum, the Air has roughly 100meg less available RAM when you launch Auria after a fresh reboot than the iPad 4 (but still a lot more than iPad 2). Considering the increase in CPU performance it's not that big a deal. The reduced RAM footprint is proba...

This happens to me as well, especially if I enable the analyser. It happens almost every time I use Pro Q.

Re: Drumagog and Hihat articulation
Shame iGog has been abandoned, I use Impaktor to record drum performances and then replace the samples with Drumagog. If iGog was Audiobus compatible I could do the whole thing in one step.

Re: Drumagog and Hihat articulation
Automating is pretty easy: to record automation simply look for the grey buttons with the letters R and W at the top of the plugin window. When you press the W button you can record automation while the track is playing, just move the fader as the track plays. Then disable the W buttons but keep the...
